Gamut
Color ManagementDefinition
The complete range of colors that a printer can reproduce with its specific ink set. Different ink sets and media types produce different gamuts.
In-Depth Explanation
DesignJet printers with more ink colors generally have wider gamuts. For example, the Z9+ with 9 inks can reproduce a wider range of colors than a T-Series with 4 inks. Understanding your printer's gamut helps set realistic expectations for color reproduction and guides media/ink selection. Out-of-gamut colors are approximated using the closest reproducible color, which is managed by the ICC profile and rendering intent.
