Service Error: Motor Driver Failure

This error indicates a failure of a motor driver circuit, preventing one or more motors from operating. This is a critical hardware failure.

• 1Malfunction or short circuit within the main PCA (Printer Controller Assembly) where the motor driver integrated circuits (ICs) are located.
• 2Failure of a specific motor driver component (e.g., H-bridge driver IC) on the main PCA due to overheating or electrical stress.
• 3Damaged or loose ribbon cable connection between the main PCA and a motor (e.g., carriage motor, service station motor, media advance motor).
• 4Overcurrent condition or short circuit in one of the motors itself, leading to the motor driver shutting down or failing.
• 5Power supply unit (PSU) instability or failure to deliver stable voltage to the motor driver circuits on the main PCA.

• The carriage assembly does not move, or moves erratically, and then stops with the error.
• The printer fails to initialize, with no motor movement during power-on self-test.
• Loud grinding or clicking noises immediately followed by the error message.
• The media advance roller (starwheel motor) or take-up reel motor fails to engage or move.
• The service station mechanism (e.g., capping station, wiper blade) does not operate, preventing printhead maintenance.
