HP-GL/2 is optimized for line drawings, technical illustrations, and CAD output. It produces crisp lines and text with minimal processing overhead. Most CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) can output directly in HP-GL/2 format. For technical drawings, HP-GL/2 typically produces better results than PostScript because it was specifically designed for plotter output.
