Cockling
Print QualityDefinition
The wrinkling or buckling of paper caused by excessive ink absorption, particularly noticeable on thin or uncoated papers.
In-Depth Explanation
Cockling occurs when one side of the paper absorbs ink and expands while the other side remains dry. This creates visible waves or wrinkles in the print. Solutions include: using heavier weight paper, selecting a lower ink density print mode, using coated media designed for inkjet printing, or adjusting the printer's drying settings. Severe cockling can cause head strikes where the media contacts the printheads.
