Media Sensor
ComponentsDefinition
Optical or mechanical sensors that detect the presence, type, width, and position of print media loaded in the printer.
In-Depth Explanation
DesignJet printers use multiple media sensors: a drop-of-ink sensor for automatic media type detection, edge sensors for width detection, and advance sensors for tracking media movement. Sensor malfunctions (error 86:10) can cause paper jams, incorrect margins, or print quality issues. Keeping sensors clean and free of paper dust is important maintenance.
